Listen to my first podcast!

Google Earth is SWEET

The flight simulator is very impressive. Just a few years ago people would pay up to $100 for these features that are now available for free! WOOHOO! There are so many uses for Google earth in the classroom, but I think perhaps the most beneficial is the awareness of the world that students can get from google earth. There are also some sweet overlays that you can download historic maps and it puts them on google earth in the exact position so you can see what the place looked like 100s of years ago. Cool!

Tweet Tweet CREEP!

Stay out of my living room tweet! I think twitter is among the creepiest things technology has brought. Nobody needs to know what I'm up to unless they are close enough to me to learn for themselves. I see myself as too private of a person to ever get into this.

Google Docs

Google Docs are an AWESOME classroom tool. Local area networks are obsolete for school group projects. With google docs, a student can share documents wherever they are, at school or home, and always have access to their work. The powerpoint and word features also make it easy to save documents for other uses.

wiki Wiki WIKI

Wikis,
I'm not getting much from using wikis. I see the use of a wiki in the classroom as potential for chaos. Who knows what a problem student might post on a wiki? This could set up a teacher for a classroom disaster! AHHH!

BLOGGING...UGGGG

I do not like sharing information over the internet. This blogging experience for me is stressful and far from enjoyable. If I'm going to share ideas or social network, it is going to be in person or over the telephone. I even am a fan of video chat with friends, family, or even co workers. However, I could see how being able to blog could be useful in certain situations. If I happened to own a business a blog could be an important part of a web site to keep customers up to date on product releases and news.
